HAIR SERUMS AND OILS

Saturday 31 August 2013

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum £14
Avon Argan Oil £5.50

One of my absolute favorite things to talk about is hair care and how to grow your hair lusciously long.
I am still in hope that one day I might be able to have hair down to my waist. So far its has been a very long and unsuccessful journey with only few inches of growth. First of all I have to say that I used to colour my hair blonde since I was 16 and over the years it has really taken its toll on my hair. So one and a half years ago I was fed up with the blonde and thought to try out brunette for some time. Big mistake!!! Well guess what I hated it and tried to colour my hair back to blonde and in the process of recolouring I ruined my hair so much so that still now after one and a half years of taking care and not doing any more colouring its still splitting and breaking easily. The only thing that helps with the split ends is a regular trim and that's not really a good idea when you trying to grow your hair out.

Few of the things that I love when it comes to hair care are serums.
I love hair serums because they help with the frizzyness of my hair and make it more manageable. I know they are loaded with silicones but for me that's exactly what my hair needs to stay smooth and shiny as I have tried hair care products without the silicones in it and I end up looking like a hot mess.
What I also like about the Paul Mitchell Serum is that it make your wet hair dry extra fast, I don't know why it does that but for me that's an added bonus as I am trying to stay away from hairdryers as much as I can.

Another product that I like is the Avon Argan Oil. Its not a complete pure argan oil, it just has some argan oil in it but its a really nice rich oil that I put into the ends of my hair when its still wet.
It prevents my hair from drying out at the ends during the day and my hair stays super soft  until the next wash. Oils are one of my absolute must haves for my hair and in the coming days I will show you another oil what I use as an overnight treatment.
What are your hair care staples, I am interested to know.
I hope you like this post and subscribe to my blog.

REVIEW: LOREAL 3IN 1 PURIFYING MICELLAR SOLUTION

Thursday 29 August 2013

Loreal says: Swiftly dissolving all traces of make up, the 'micellar' solution acts like a purifying magnet on the skin's surface to capture and draw out excess oil and impurities rather than spreading them around your face like some wipes can.

Sounds really good don't you think? As you can see I have use it for some days now and while it is an absolute great eye make up remover that removes all traces of mascara and liner, I wouldn't use it to remove my foundation with. A creamy cleanser like Liz Earls Cleanse And Polish would do a better job..
Cream cleansers are just so much better to remove heavy make up and liquid foundations especially when you use them with a warm muslin cloth to remove make up and exfoliate the skin.
The Loreal Micellar Solution feels more like water and doesn't give a thorough cleanse as other cleansers would do.
However this makes for a perfect mascara and eye make up remover, I just spritz a little on a cotton pad and press it on to my eye lids, hold it for 10 seconds and then wipe all the eye make up away.
It doesn't feel greasy nor does it hurt the eyes so in my opinion this is perfect.
Some of the You Tuber Gurus have compared it to Bioderma which I have not tried out yet but I can definitely see a comparison.
As for the claim that it unclogs pores, I can not really say anything other that it dosen't have any ingredience that would support that claim.

Have you tried the Loreal Micellar Solution, Bioderma or other similar make up removers? I would be interessted about your opinion.

SKINCARE HEROS

Tuesday 27 August 2013

Alpha H Liquide Gold  £28
Vichy Normaderm Moisturizer £12
La Roche Posey Thermal Spring Water  £7.50

Today I want to share with you some of my favorite skincare products that have been working for me.
Over the last month I have been trying out a few more things just to see if I can get better skin with not so many spots. Ever since I had my two children I have been struggling with my skin and breakouts. I didn't really have any skin worries before and I don't really know what it is that makes me break out. Maybe its the hormones or just my skin getting more sensitive. All I hope for is that hopefully one day I can have nice skin but in the main time I have to find things that help.
One of my main skin savers has been the Alpha H Liquid Gold. I know you have probably heard of this little gem from other blogs but I just wanted to say that if you haven't tried it and struggle with breakouts have a look at it again and give it a go.
It has helped me not breaking out as much but the best thing is that when I do feel one coming on and I put this over the top it makes the pimple stop forming and heal.
I use it mainly in the night to wake up in the morning with nice fresh skin.

The next product is La Roche Posey's Thermal Spring Water.
Sometimes when you have very oily, sensitive skin and want to hydrate it its a little tricky. You can't put thick moisturizers on your skin and some of the lotion moisturizers are just not cutting it. So what I do after I wash my face in the morning and before I put my moisturizer on is to spritz a little of the thermal water on my face and let it soak in for a minute.
I find this really helps my skin to feel more moisturized during the day without putting any more oil on your face.
Last but not least I put my moisturizer on my skin.
I only just recently discovered the Vichy Normaderm moisturizer and I have to say this has really help with my breakout too. The "Magic" ingredients in it is salicylic acid and I found that products with salicylic acid
have really helped my skin with staying exfoliated and not breaking out as much. I have yet to try more  things of this line and am curious if you have. Let me know what your skincare hero's are! I am always on the hunt out for new products.

AUTUMN IS UPON US

Saturday 24 August 2013

Revlon Lipbutter ~ Candy Apple
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine  #14
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #4
YSL Rouge Pur Couture #7

It is raining outside today and I feel like Autumn is nearly here and that means my favorite season is coming. I love everything Autumn well ok maybe not the rain that we have so much of here in the UK. But other than that its all good.
New season clothes are in the shops in all the pretty dark red colours, leather jackets and lovely skirts that are a little longer than the summer skirts ( they seem to get shorter and shorter).
But my favorite thing in Autumn is to experiment with new colours in my make up especially lipsticks. I love rocking a red lip with an all black look and leather jacket.
One of my favorite red lipsticks is a Revlon Lipbutter, Those Lipbutter lipsticks are just so creamy and easy to apply and I definitely have to buy more of them. As well as the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks but at £24 a pop they are a real splurge. Oh well a girl has to treat herself some times ;-)

Are you looking forward to the next season?
Whats your favorite thing about Autumn?

CHICKEN,SPINACH AND GOAT CHEESE LASAGNA

Thursday 22 August 2013

This is one of my all time favorite Lasagna dishes I have made. It's so easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious. This dish is perfect for a little get together with friends and is easily adjusted for vegetarians.

Chicken,Spinach and Goat Cheese Lasagna

                                                                                                          serves up to 4 people

  Ingredients:

2 chicken breasts
1 can of chopped tomatoes
3 cloves of garlic
bag of spinach
100g of goats cheese
150g of mozzarella
100g of parmesan cheese
10-12 lasagna sheets
fresh basil
olive oil
salt & pepper

Directions:

To make the sauce, cook the garlic in a little oil until slightly brown
Finally add the tomatoes, basil, salt and pepper
Bring everything to boil and simmer until thickened
Cook the spinach slowly, allow to cool and drain in sieve then chop coarsely
Chop and fry chicken breast in pan
To assemble the lasagna, put about 1/4 of the tomato sauce on the bottom of your dish
Add chicken on top
Make an overlapping layer of lasagna sheets
Spread some more of the tomato sauce on top making sure the pasta is well covered
Take about half of the spinach and layer on top
Sprinkle some of the mozzarella on top and repeat the next layer of pasta, sauce, chicken, spinach then break up some of the goats cheese and put on top
You can continue layering in this fashion for more layers
I only did two of these layers and finished with sprinkling some of the parmesan with the goats cheese.
Cover the dish with some foil and bake in preheated oven for 30 min, remove foil and bake for a further 15-20 min until nice and brown

I love serving Lasagna with some lovely fresh ciabatta bread and some rocket salad.

FAVOURITE OF THE MONTH

Mac Sable and Ricepaper Eyeshadow
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine#14
Mac Face And Body Foundation

This month I have been busy looking after my kids in there summer holidays, so in the mornings I have not much time on my hands to do my make up.
Mac's Face And Body is perfect for such days, it is really easy to apply with my mac stippling brush and leaves a gentle glow with a subtle coverage. Perfect for the days you don't want to look like you have make up on. Eyeshadow wise I have been reaching also for some good old staples Mac's Ricepaper which is a lovely yellow gold colour paired with Sable, a summer bronze colour,in the crease,a little black liner and I am good to go.
Just finally my favorite Lipstick for the summer, a lovely coral orange shade from YSL. If you have not tried any of there Lipsticks I urge you to go and have a look not only have they got an amazing array of colour choices but also these lipsticks feel amazingly moisturizing on your lips.
