IN NEED OF A PERFECT BLUSH BRUSH

Monday 20 January 2014

I have to confess that when it comes to blush I don't really know how to make it work some days. I often end up with way to much on or even placed in the total wrong place. And lets face it that is not a good look, right? For some reason I can just not make it work and the thought came to me that maybe its not just entirely my own fault but that the brushes that I own are perhaps not the best to work with. Especially when you don't have amazing bone structure like other girls have.

You see I have two blush brushes and both I thought at the time would give me amazing cheeks but NO! The first one is an Ecotools Blush Brush that I have had for absolutely ages in my make up bag and probably the one I most reach for. The thing about the brush is that it picks up way to much product and I often end up looking like a tomato. I like that its angled which makes applying blush easy but its just to big for my face, making my cheeks bigger as they should be! ;-)

And then I have an expensive Laura Mercier Blush Brush which was kindly given to me by my lovely sister in law. When she gave me the brush I was all excited and thought that a better quality brush would also give better results but I was wrong again. This brush feels actually quite thin and a little bit to soft, making blending out blush a real task. It is great for picking up not to much product but because of its flimsiness it can sometimes feel like you doing nothing to your cheeks.

So now I have two blush brushes but am still not happy with the results which is why I thought I would ask you for some help. Can you recommend me a good blush brush?  I am kind of looking for a brush that does all the work for me and that makes putting on blush fool prove.

  2. I'm having the same dilemma! I use my ecotools set for applying setting powder at the end, as like you said, the brush holds a lot of the product. I use a BareMinerals foundation kit and the brushes in there work really well, so I would recommend those!

I have a new post about my January Wishlist, would love to hear what you think :)

  3. I recommend the Zoeva Luxe Sheer Cheek. I use it for both bronzer and blush. It picks up the right amount of product every time (the exception is Sleek Rose Gold - the only time I looked like a clown :D ).

    1. I have never tried any of the Chanel brushes, I bet they are super soft and nice. So far its between the mac angled brush or Zoeva brush!

  6. For applying blush I'm currently using the Sigma F50. It's a duo fibre, stippling brush-- not the traditional blush brush, but I find that it works really well for me.

  7. Aww, I'm sad that you didn't like the Ecotools blush brush. It's definitely my favorite one and I haven't been on the hunt since I found this one. I find that it helps a lot if you tap off the excess or swipe it off on the back of your hand first, and not do directly from product to cheek x

  8. It really depends on how much you're willing to spend, my favourite blush brush of all time is my Bobbi Brown blush brush, it picks up so much product and is really dense, but the price is ridiculous, it is good though. Other wise the real technique blush brush is really nice!

    1. I have some Bobbi Brown brushes and you are right they are amazing. I love how super soft they are. Price wise they can be a little bit over priced but they would probably last you for half a life time?

  13. I would definitely recommend MAC's angled contouring brush! It's technically for sculpting your face with bronzer, but it works beautifully for blush. All you need to do is dab a TINY bit of blush onto it and then blend away. It buffs the smallest bit of blush into the most beautiful soft glow.

Hope you find a new blush brush that works for you!

  16. I have the Real Techniques duo fibre blush brush which is lovely but I don't like very much blush on my face so it gives a very light 'flush'. Worth trying though!

  17. i understand your frustration - for the longest time i felt like nothing worked good enough to do my blushes justice! my best blush brush discovery has been the sonia kashuk blush brush - it's reasonably priced and applies the perfect amount of product to cheeks. i highly recommend it! :)

  18. I find the real techniques blush brush to be MASSIVE, I use it only for powder or bronzing the whole face! Their duo fibre one could be good because it can blend well and not pack it on too heavy.
Personally I like using a angled contour brush, for a cheap brand try Zoeva brushes, I fell in love with them recently. It might be as well you haven't found the best shade of blusher for you.
Hope that helps, I struggle with blusher on myself too!
